Farm In A Box™ "Grand Cayman" Fits any 30, 38 and 45 gallon Aqueon glass tank (45 gallon tall tank shown) Pictured here is pine wood painted blue. Pine must be painted or varnished to prevent weathering. Soon available is smooth cut cedar wood, which does not require finishing.
The Grand Cayman was first purchased by a customer living in the Cayman Islands. Because the final design includes a base on wheels, the model may be moved indoors during winter, in temperate climates, or in tropical climates when weather is inclement. For setup, the plant bed fits snugly onto its frame which sets upon one of three appropriately sized Aqueon glass tanks. The water pump and timer (included) circulate water from the fish tank to the plant bed above; the ebb and flow action continues day and night, aerating the water and keeping the eco-system in balance. This system is similar to the San Antonio model, but does not come with the wooden tank. Instead, we price the Grand Cayman $180 less, and allow you to buy your own tank, which typically costs around $100. You can do this when going to your Aqueon store to pick up your fish and fish food.
We recommend local sources for fish, plants, and gravel. FAQ, forum and aquaponic news and articles will be posted soon. While it is our intention to promote aquaponics, most are more familiar with hydroponics. Hydroponic gardeners may also use this system with nukes. It's a good way to start your transition to all natural and organic aquaponic gardening.
Instructions and fish/plant care guidelines are included.
