Farm In A Box^™ - Sydney

The Earth Solutions Farm In A Box^™ Sydney is a self contained Aquaponics system which allows you to grow organic fish and vegetables conveniently and efficiently at home.

In honor of our Aquaponics loving friends down under, we named this new system the Sydney. The size of the Sydney system allows you to easily raise edible fish such as tilapia and crawfish (see video), or entertaining goldfish, small perch and minnows. The Sydney will enable you to grow your own herbs, fruits and veggies outside on your porch, in your yard, courtyard, or greenhouse, as well inside you house or apartment! Inside, place the Sydney in front of a window or under gardening lights. During the winter, this model thrives in front of a south facing window.

What’s Included? This system includes a rubber lined garden bed, and a simplified, patented ebb and flow drainage system that includes a water pump, timer, valves, and hoses. Clear instructions show you how to easily setup you’re your Sydney. The plant bed fits snugly onto its frame which sets upon one of three appropriately sized Aqueon glass tanks. The water pump and timer (included) circulate water from the fish tank to the plant bed above; the ebb and flow action automatically continues day and night, aerating the water and keeping the eco-system in balance. You will also receive fish and plant care guidelines which will help you get to a successful and rewarding start

What do I need to Supply? You are responsible for securing the tank that best meets you needs, most pleasing rocks, fish, fish food, and seedlings or plants. You can pick up your tank, fish and fish food in one trip to your local the Aqueon store. For the Sydney the tank must be 30 inches long and 12 inches wide. The height may vary. Aqueon makes 20, 29, and 37 gallon tanks with these dimensions. We recommend using local sources for fish, plants, and gravel (for the plant bed).  For gravel we suggest you find river or granite pebbles, lava stone, permatill or hydroton.

Familiar with Hydroponics? Start experimenting with Aquaponics as soon as your Sydney is assembled, or begin your transition to all natural and organic aquaponic gardening by using the Sydney with nukes at first. This is a great way to take you first step toward working with the higher efficiency, sustainable Aquaponic gardening method.

How does the Sydney compare? This system is similar to the Charleston model, but does not come with the wooden tank. Instead, we price the Sydney $130 less, and allow you to buy your own tank.

Note:  This model includes a 12" x 32" plant bed with stand for a 20, 29 or 27 gallon fish tank (tank not included). It includes an Ebb and Flow Trickle Value, Hoses, a 160 GPH Submersible Pump, 15 minute Interval Dual Outlet Timer, Setup Instructions and Casters.  The beds are made from FSC Certified Sustainably Harvested Poplar Wood, Birch panels or both.  The beds are lined with EPDM Rubber.
